Tokyo, Japan’s Sete Star Sept comes blasting with a no-holds barred wall of grindcore on the brink of pure noise and let it be known that this ain’t no run-of-the-mill band. The title of the album is true. Although this two-piece band’s sound is firmly rooted in US and Japanese grind and noise, “revision of noise” sounds very updated to me. There’s a modern sort of twist in the way the tempo changes and transitions are structured. I like that. I like that very much. This way the band becomes more than another copycat of 90s grind. With 15 songs in about the same amount of minutes this grinds like a motherfucker and gives noise/grind something unique and new to digest. The drummer is a maniac who does more than just blastbeating away. It seems this guy plays at a 45 rpm pace. Sete Star motherfucking Sept. Thank you, Fuck Yoga Records.

OVER THE TOP REVIEW FROM OX # 104
OVER
ultra-unterhaltsamen „T(h)rashcore“-Krachern alles ums Aasfressen, hier

CULT OF THE 7 CROWNS TAPE REVIEW ON TOTALITY
Cult of The Seven Crowns Mixtape I - Land of Screwdom
When I first heard (or perhaps read is more appropriate) this tape was
going to be released, I was keen to pick up a copy a.s.a.p. Surely
enough I ordered one as soon as I could, and it arrived rather promptly.
Now I knew the sort of songs I'd be expecting to hear when I first
played the tape. In this way the tape wasn't a surprise, but in another
way I haven't been more surprised by a release in a long time. When I
first played it recognised a beat coming from Mobb Deep, although
something was different about it. It seemed painfully slow and distorted
but soon enough the signature Gehenna-style madness flooded the
speakers.
And that's what the whole tape is like really, it's great. It's an
interesting take on the usual metallic hardcore, I'm not sure of another
mixtape in this style that has taken this approach. But it certainly
makes some of the tracks sound particularly menacing. To get a taste of
what I mean perhaps try loading up Audacity and messing around with 83%.
If you slow it down from 45 to 33 rpm you may just get an appreciation
of what I mean.
As you can see we've quite a diverse range of tracks on this tape;
ranging from Gehenna and Sangraal to The Discreet Doll Band and Fog
Spectre. It certainly makes for an interesting mix of 'genres'.
Only a mere 100 of these tapes have been released in a joint effort between Idonuem Bello and Fuck Yoga,
with mine being lucky number 72. It seems these are now all sold out,
so if you're keen for some COT7C action you'll have to hit up Ebay in
the hope some foolish person is willing to let go of their precious
copy.
One of the more interesting tracks on the tape was the very last one,
'Fog Mistress' by Fog Specter. I've heard nothing of this band before,
and can't seem to find much information on the internet apart from a
rumoured 7". Even Evan (who
has written a great review of this tape himself) didn't have any more
information than that which was surprising. If anyone else can enlighten
me on this band I'd greatly appreciate it.

Right now I’m sipping on some CULT OF

dig this motherfucking mix because it combines two things that I dig:
hardcore & drugged-out hip hop styles. This is an epic, mind-melting
blast that should be listened to HIGH. Only 100 copies were created by Fuck Yoga,
but we also have it here it for download! Check out “Land of Screwdom”
and inhale some slowdown chaos into your ears…Hail the CULT OF THE SEVEN

IN 2013
is suppossed to see at least one collaboration with Ivan / FUCK YOGA RECORDS in which we'll join forces to release a 7" of the infamous GEHENNA but it most likely won't stop there as we already talked about doing another split release together too.
I'd also like to do something with DISCONNECTED again as their new stuff totally rips!
I'd also like to do something with SETE STAR SEPT again. something for their 2nd Eurotour would be nice I guess.
even though the chances are good that what I just wrote will happen sooner or later nothing is 100% sure as I type this. well, let me tell you that it is 100% sure that I'll talk to SEA OF SHIT and SICK/TIRED about working with them again, too.
and last but not least let me tell you that I.B.R.-021 is already in the works at the moment! it will be a split 7" featuring VERMAPYRE (U.S./Belgium) and (believe it or not) D.C.R. (Rus). I'm aware that I've said that about D.C.R. more than once before and nothing has ever happened still hasn't but this time it should be out in the near(est) future... even though the tracks of neither of both bands have been masterd yet (as far as I know) plus VERMAPYRE haven't even recorded the vocals for 1of their tracks till now it will be out soon!

IDONEUM BELLO RECORDS - 020
Germany's OVER THE TOP with 9 tracks of hyper-thrash on this lovely 7" picture disc that runs on 45 rpm and is limited to only 200 copies! cause of the limited nature this 7" is a little bit expensive but well. the 2 shortest tracks are just 6 seconds long while the longest runs a 1 minute 55 seconds. the 7" includes a digital download code and if you visit their website you can also download their previous releases. the lyrics are printed on clear plastic foil with a laser printer cause printing them on the plastic bags didn't work. due to the limited nature of this release this 7 " unfortunately is a little expensive:

IT SHALL BE KNOWN
that the SHOCK FUTURO 7", the SICK/TIRED 7" and the SEA OF SHIT 7" not only got great reviews but have also been on 1 or more top 10 lists in MRR #347 and #348. I'm aware of the fact that that was already a while ago but A) have my own copies of those 2 MRR issues mysteriously vanished into thin air before I could scan the reviews (therefore the review of the THE LIFETAKER 7" still isn't posted, thanks to Tony for the others) and B) didn't I have any spare moment during the last time anyway. speaking about time - let me safe you some and let me tell you that I'm most likely not interested in co-releasing anything at the moment. if I don't know you / your label and the bands be prepared that I'll turn your offer down. life is still hectic here and the time I have for the label is very limited right now and barely enough to take care of my current releases. not to mention the up-coming stuff like the OVER THE TOP 7" picture disc which is also nearly good to go and should be out any day!

CULT OF THE 7 CROWNS REVIEW
review from TOTAL WAR: Since DJ Screw started working his magic in the early 1990s, it isn't
uncommon to see chopped and screwed hip-hop mixtapes or albums. It is,
however, different to see a thrashy punk outfit do it. The Cult Of The 7
Crowns, featuring acts such as Gehenna, Sangraal, The Discreet Doll
Band, and Witch-Lord just to name a few, chops and slows some of its
best tracks.
A slowed version of Mobb Deep's classic "Shook Ones PT. 2" greets the listener, quickly transforming into something more ominous - Gehenna's "First Blood." Mike Cheese's vocals sound more demonic than ever whilst the aggression never wanes, even when the music is chopped and screwed. Penetration Panthers transforms from get fucked-up skate punk into something much darker. I won't lie, it's a weird trip hearing tracks like "83%" and "Pills The 80s" in this vein, but without a doubt, Gehenna (And other COT7C groups) have created something very interesting. I think it would be akin of taking a famous painting that everyone knows and flipping it upside down. Is it the same painting? Yes. But is it different? Absolutely.
One of my thing I really enjoy about this mixtape is that I hear new little nuances and things in some of my favorite tracks (And honestly, how rad is "83%" going into "Fix Me"?). The Mother Fucking Titty Suckers' contribution almost sounds like it's a cassette in its death throes, which needless to say, sounds gnarly and the guitar in "Pills The 80s" sounds out of this world.
Gehenna's split with Blind To Faith showcased a much more doom oriented sound, verging on the psychedelic. "Disciple In My Own Image" sounded like a bad acid trip without being chopped and screwed... This version most certainly one-ups the original and then some. The squealing guitar sounds like strange sirens, both ominous and deafening. The closing track, Fog Specter's "Fog Mistress" is like a grainy recording of a sermon; the vocals are eerie and at times mere whispers. It's an interesting track, one I haven't heard before.
Cult Of The 7 Crowns' "Land Of Screwdom" is a joint effort from Idoneum Bello and Fuck Yoga, limited to one-hundred copies - and to my knowledge is long sold out. If you've checked out Gehenna or Penetration Panthers and want to listen to something a bit out of the ordinary, I highly recommend tracking this tape down.
So, grab your beverage of choice, pop on the headphones, and listen to some killer tunes.

SEA OF SHIT REVIEW ON NARROW MIND
the review of the SEA OF SHIT 7" below is already from December last year and actually based on the tape version if I'm not mistaken:
"THEY BACK AND THEY PISSED. I've been waiting for this record to come out for quite some time. Robby just had to tease us with the tape version first and he even sent me the MP3s before that. So needless to say, I've been anticipating this slab of wax for months. It has lived up to every ounce of my expectations. This thang picks up where their split with SOCIALLY RETARDED (R.I.P.) left off, only it's ten times as pissed and even faster. I gotta say that my favorite part about this record is Robby's vokills; they're too sick."

SEA OF SHIT have begun writing for a split 7" with CONSENT a newish POWER VIOLENCE band from Chicago with ex-members of SOCIALLY RETARDED and BONGRIPPER. which will be released on SEA OF SHIT vocalist Robby's label DISEASED AUDIO. judging by the way things have been moving lately this might actually come out sooner than later. CONSENT have only played two shows thus far but they just finished recording a rather impressive 5 track demo that you can download for free from their bandcamp site.
